    The Girl With a Pearl Earring, 2003, is a drama set in Holland in 1665 about the disturbing life of the painter Johannes Vermeer, who feels motivated to continue painting thanks to the inspiration of his maid Griet. She will become the protagonist of several of his paintings. Furthermore, the movie took its title from one of his masterpiecies.

    Movie Language: Flashback

    The movie Persepolis (2007), is based on a graphic novel by an Iranian, Marjane Satrapi, who is living in France. She explains, in a comic way, the history of the Iranian people and of her own life in the Islamic fundamentalist regime that leads her to leave and live in another country. The story is told by its own protagonist, and she talks about her childhood and adulthood, depicting at the same time: different societies; contrasts between cultures;  and the ideologies and aspirations of a young woman who likes, as many other do, loving, learning and living freely .
